The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George
“Books keep stupidity at bay. And vain hopes. And vain men. They undress you with love, strength and knowledge. It’s love from within.”
Imagine yourself in France, surrounded by books. Sound like a dream come true?
Jean Perdu is a “literary apothecary.” His book barge, floating along the Seine River, is more than just a bookstore. No matter their struggles, people can enter this haven to find solace. Jean prescribes books to cure various emotional ailments. My fellow book lovers can appreciate the healing power of a good book.
While he tries to help others, Jean faces his own emotional turmoil. One day, he sets sail on an adventure with an unusual group (an author and a chef) to confront his inner demons, grieve, and find peace.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The heartwarming, wholesome story made me feel happy, which is what I want from a cozy book. This story is also a great reminder about the positive power of community and connection.
